IMF’s new take on Colombia

In days gone by a visit to Bogotá from the IMF head would be the cause for anti-imperialist teeth-gnashing and worries that a new round of austerity was on its way. Not anymore, reports Infolatam.com. IMF managing director Chritine Lagarde is in Colombia for what Colombia president Juan Manuel Santos is describing as a ‘courtesy call’. For  her part Lagarde has been quite clear that Colombia is now a country that can provide assistance and services to the IMF, not the reverse. This makes sense. The Colombia economy is booming and the security situation appears to be set for a relatively amicable end.
